It wasn’t the first time, but it still takes me unawares, distracting me at the oddest moments. A flash of gold, a glimpse of skin. The line of your chin in profile. Another stranger, reminding me of you.
This post was written in response to the Trifecta Writing Challenge weekend prompt:
Complete the following story in 33 words:
‘It wasn’t the first time.’
(The five words are not to be included in your 33 words.)
Thanks for linking up this weekend. I love how you’ve captured something that many of us have felt. That, “wait, is that him” moment. Beautiful. Hope to see you back soon.

Story of my life. Everyone reminds me of someone. Always. I guess my life can only fit so many characters. 🙂

I read this as the aftermath of a tragic love story. It is both haunting and beautiful!

Nicely written. It makes me wonder if the narrator just lost touch with the person or if the person passed away. Either way, it is sad.

This is excellent. I especially love the word-bump proximity of “a glimpse of skin. The line of your chin.”
And congrats on your well-deserved win for last week’s gorgeous piece! 🙂
