I am blue, like the lady sang, mood indigo.
This must be what the ocean feels: an infinite expanse of reflected joy, a brightness deep and unattainable.
I am blue with wanting you.
This post was written in response to the Trifecta Writing Challenge prompt.
You should write a creative response using the given word. You must use the word in your response, and you must use it correctly. Your response can be no fewer than 33 and no more than 333 words. This week’s word is:
1 : of the color blue
2 a : bluish <the blue haze of tobacco smoke>
b : discolored by or as if by bruising <blue with cold>
c : bluish gray <a blue cat>
3 a : low in spirits : melancholy
b : marked by low spirits : depressing <a blue funk> <things looked blue>
This was perfectly suited to the prompt. “I am blue with wanting you,” sounds like an old song, or a new song waiting to be put to music! And here is the next one:

Thank you! I rather like this piece myself. Am still struggling to pick a book for the next one. I try not to read other people’s entries till I post my own, but I think I will have to make an exception this time – I just can’t resist!

That was so pretty. So simple and so pretty. And it’s got a nice rhythm to it.

In a few words, you painted unsatisfied longings and the sadness that go with it. Nicely done. 🙂

Stark and heartfelt. And mood indigo is always evocative.

Thank you! I love these micro-pieces for their starkness, actually. Well, I try to be stark and lush at the same time. I was a little worried that “mood indigo” was too cliche, but it seemed to fit.

Thank you! It was hard to find just the right picture. Most were bright or dark, but I needed both.

That’s the part that made me stop at 33 words. What more is there to say?

That’s a great image, the “infinite expanse of reflected joy.” Made me look at the ocean differently.

You know, I came to this because I was wondering, why do we use “blue” to mean “sad”? This is my answer to that question, I guess.
