“Are you ready?” asked the man with the key.
I considered my own slumbering form. The butterflies didn’t show. “If
not now, when?”
He nodded, unlocked the door. “Go softly, lest you wake.”
This post was made in response to the Trifecta Writing Challenge weekend prompt, in which the editors asked for exactly 33 words inspired by the following quote:
“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.” ― Paulo Coelho, Alchemist
This week’s challenge is community-judged. Starting at 5:00 PM Pacific US (8:00 PM Eastern) you can visit the Trifecta Writing Challenge site to vote for your three favorites. I hope mine is one of them!
Congratulations on your win! I saw your post about reading but not having time to comment. Same here. Also am on daily writing prompts and must visit 10-20 for each of those a day. Whew. Will be watching for your next entry!

This is green writing. There are layers and layers of meaning to it.
I am sure you are referring to altered states of consciousness that takes one to a different plane.
Kudos 🙂

Reading this Shakespeare “Hamlet” immediately came into my mind.
“,,,,To sleep, perchance to Dream; Aye, there’s the rub,
For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,”
Dreams are a wonderful of escaping the hardships we’re required to face each day while we’re awake,
WELL DONE !!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I prostrate myself before you in awe of your language skills and imagination. Every time. The dirtied pants and shirt and dust in my mouth is totally worth it.

Unlocking doors is what it’s all about. Finding the holder of the key, a bit challenging. Makes the search and then the beginning sweeter.

I would prefer that you not disabuse me of the notion that you simply pluck the perfect words from the air around you without effort, though I mean no disrespect to your art and the work that obviously goes into it. it’s just that I’ve yet to read a piece of yours that has a word out of place…
