Frozen

There was a time when words would fly between us, thick as snow. The whirls and eddies caught us up and set us down in ever-deeper drifts. All that’s left now is ice.

This post was written in response to the Trifecta Writing Challenge weekly prompt:

You should write a creative response using the given word. You must use the word in your response, and you must use it correctly. Your response can be no fewer than 33 and no more than 333 words. This week’s word is:

FLY (intransitive verb)
1a : to move in or pass through the air with wings
b : to move through the air or before the wind or through outer space
c : to float, wave, or soar in the air <flags flying at half-mast>
2a : to take flight : flee
b : to fade and disappear : vanish
3a : to move, pass, or spread quickly <rumors were flying>
b : to be moved with sudden extreme emotion <flew into a rage>
c : to seem to pass quickly <the time simply flew>

I had intended this to be longer, but the more I refined it, the closer it got to 33 words. I guess that’s how it was meant to be!

Christine, I neglected to thank you. For what?, you ask. I just passed the one year anniversary of my blog and I wanted to thank you for being the first person to comment on my first post. I should add that it was an encouraging comment. Thanks again.
