I tied a string around a finger to remind me who I was before the rope of my intelligence snapped, before I lost the thread.
I can’t I don’t remember why the string.
This post was made in response to the Trifecta Writing Challenge weekend prompt, in which the editors gave us this assignment:
Katherine Paterson, author of Bridge to Terabithia, wrote, “It’s like the smarter you are, the more things can scare you.” We are looking for a 33-word explanation of what scares you (or your character).
Fear while being in the midst of that fear. This was damned good.

Unknown things, that things that are truly beyond your control and grasp…it is terrifying. It was your language, your use of words that held me and scared me. This was beautiful and eloquent.

I love the language you used: string, rope, thread; tying, snapping.

This is terrifying. How many times have I forgotten what I walked into that room for. Hoping it’s only distraction that makes me forget.
Great job scaring me some more.

The thought of dementia or Alzheimer’s truly is terrifying. I can’t imagine what it would be like and I hope I never have to find out. Excellent piece!

We are all of the same feeling I imagine, especially when i saw a mate younger than me be taken from us with early onset dementia. You have stirred these memories in me, good that you could do that.
